As hard as it is to believe, there are several aspects to the nightlife that can actually be beneficial to your health. The most important two are:

  • Socializing
  • Dancing

We’ve discussed the socializing factor earlier. Social “meetings” are the best remedy against loneliness. And loneliness is bad for your blood pressure. So, going out with friends may actually lower the risk of different heart diseases.

dance1.jpgOn the other hand, dancing can be a fun aerobic activity that also improves the health of your heart and lungs. You just need to find your favourite style and a few friends who may want to join you. You also train your balance, coordination and muscle endurance.

And that’s not all! If you’ve got a few pound you’d like to lose, but hate jogging like hell, dancing may be your best option. For example, an average person burns during a ballroom dance approx 160 calories in 45 minutes - that’s like half of a chocolate bar! Imagine all you can lose in 6 hours!

An interesting fact to introduce here: there was a dancing marathon in Chicago in 1930 that supposedly lasted 5,152 hours. The winning couple won 2,000$. I guess that money was worth much more then ;)

Anyway, when you choose the right nightclub for your dancing activities, take something where there’s not too much smoke. Otherwise all the benefits of the aerobic training vanish quickly. Apart from that keep your drinking under control. Excessive ammounts of alcohol are bad for you, too (especially when it comes to losing weight and gaining coordination ;) ).

You may also want to remember not to go out for the whole night more than once in a week. Sleep is an important element in the health balance, too.
To conclude this post: many people are ashamed to dance in public because they believe they have a lack of skills and coordination. I’d like to say that dancing is all about having fun and moving to the rythm of the music. Pay attention to the music and not to the public that may “think something” about your dancing.

Note: A bodytweaker dances like there’s no tomorrow
Cost: Depends on the nightclub
