I’ve started a deep endurance training today. Have been jogging in the city park. It’s been about 2.5 miles for the start, but we’re going for more next time.

3 times a week may be a little bit too much, but I see no other way to get into the right shape in just 2-3 months. As you may already know I’m planning to take part in the “Carros de Foc” competition. 137 miles in 24 hours. That may require more than just “good” shape.

Anyway, I must confess that I haven’t really done any targeted endurance/cardio training in the last year. So, those 2.5 miles have been a hard nut, well… I guess falling is the first step to learning how to fly, huh? I still feel the rush, hours after the training. But I like it. I think I’m going for 3-3.5 miles tomorrow or on wednesday.

Let your legs carry your body, and your heart carry your dreams. Step after step, mile after mile.

Do you feel like doing something crazy on your summer holidays? Imagine a place where you could get some fresh air, adventure, water, mountains and nature; and win a challenge of a lifetime at the same time. One of those places is a Spanish natural park “Aigüestortes” in Pyrenees.

Aigüestortes offers hundreds of lakes, many waterfalls, forests, mountains and breathtaking views. The park lies approx. 6500 feet (2000 meters) over the sea level.

Perhaps the most interesting way to get to know the park are the walking routes, of which the “Carros de Foc” route, which goes through 9 different refuges, happens to be the biggest one: 137 miles (220km). “Carros de Foc” means “cars of fire” and maybe for a good reason.
Carros de Foc is also the center of a spectacular challenge the park’s administration runs in the summer months. The challenge is to complete the 137 miles route in less than 24 hours.

Impossible? Think again! Thousands of people try it each year and dozens of them succeed. Enric Lukas did it in only 10 hours five years ago.

It takes a lot of courage, since we’re talking about walking for over 20 hours at a pretty good speed. By the way, I’m not sure that you can call it “walking” anymore.

It’s an effort that most of us can face physically, but only few of us can face it mentally. I think challenges like this one actually show you who you are inside. It’s something noone can take away, something that is authentic deep within your own character.

I’m going for it this summer. You can find more information about the challenge on he official site: carrosdefoc.com.

Note: A real bodytweaker knows how to spend his/her summer holidays
Cost: 20 Euros to take the challenge

Only because you’ve decided to workout at home and not to spend any money for gym membership doesn’t mean that you did it because you hate the socializing in the gym. And even if you hate the socializing in the gym you are not necessarily an anti-social freak.

A bodytweaker objects to modern materialism and consumer lifestyle, but a bodytweaker doesn’t necessarily separate himself/herself from society. You can be different, think differently, and not follow the mainstream ideals of the society. Nevertheless you are still within the society: you play the same game, but you do it according to your own rules.

Never take the step of complete separatism, because one day or another you’ll find yourself alone.

Besides, a recent study shows, that loneliness is actually bad for your health, especially when you reach a certain age. A lonely lifestyle leads to high blood pressure and an elevated risk of heart desease. (As you think about it, we’ve already had a topic about “solo jogging” being bad for your health)

Let’s face it, you’re an individual of a larger group. You can act as an individual or as a mindless sheep. That’s the difference between a bodytweaker and an average Joe. Be sociable, but don’t be a slave to someone else’s ideas/values. Be an individual.

So, while working out at home you actually save some time that you could use later to get out and meet some new people. Heck, go clubbing on a friday night! (but don’t spend much ;) )
Note: A bodytweaker is the soul of a party
Cost: 0$ to meet new friends
